Dream on Folks.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A movie star? A cowboy? A veterinarian?
I wanted to be an astronaut.
Odds are that someone ‘older and wiser’ talked you out of whatever your dream was. Perhaps they argued a lack of practicality, or someone discredited your abilities. Or maybe life just got in the way and you had put your dreams on hold.
Well here is a secret: we are all still growing up. And the only person that is talking you out of pursuing your dreams today is YOU.
It’s likely that your dreams aren’t quite what they were when you were 8. But unless your current dream involves a Unicorn, it’s likely attainable. People say timing is everything, which can feel so true. But timing is NEVER perfect.
It takes courage to change. And failure is scary. But here is where perspective comes in. Failure does not exist if growth is made. Before Thomas Edison successfully created the light bulb he said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Where would our society be if the leaders of the world didn’t have the courage to change?
Sometimes I worry structure and comfort in stability have been preached with too much value to our generation. MAKE SOME WAVES. CREATE. CHALLENGE.
People can fail at whatever they do, so why not gamble on a life that you want? Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. This includes being open to every opportunity and growing from every set back. If you put in the energy, passion, and persistence, then I’m betting on you. (:
